Meet Rasadhi and family!
Rasadhi, one of my best mates in the whole entire world is in Malaysia! I think I've mentioned her before...she's Sri Lankan...absolutely fun to be with...and bubbly...and quirky...and honest to goodness nice! ^_^ She's over here with her mum, dad and sister Shanika who is also super fun. I, believe it or not, became her tour guide! Or rather its the other way round hehe! But anyway, I think we both learnt a lot about KL during our excursion through the capital. I couldn't pick her up at the airport which was primarily caused by my lack of transport and also because of my horrendous sense of direction, but I managed to find her at a hotel which I have never heard of before....so hurrah!!

So..being Rasadhi who is so full of energy like you wouldn't believe...we immediately headed out to see KL. I took her to see Dataran Merdeka and around that place. I myself haven't actually took the effort to stop and sit and just see the traffic and the greenery that's there. It's actually beautiful =) We took some pictures...and guess what? Some Chinese tourist mistaken Ras' dad for a Malaysian and made him pose for a picture! It was hilarious! But Uncle was such a good sport and he posed anyway. Ras' mum keep asking me about the name of flowers thats around Dataran Merdeka...sad to say I only knew Bunga Tahi Ayam (translated: Chicken Droppings Flower) which I think was the right names of the flowers and which I saw was everywhere. I think I really must brush up on my knowledge of plants...it was embarrasing!

Later that night...after a full day of sight-seeing and a bit of shopping, we went out to see the Petronas Towers. They were nice! I've only been to see the towers at night for a couple of times and sharing the moment with someone definately made the experience more lovely and memorable. By the way, I went completely dotty that night, acting like a tourist, since I was high on mamak food and sleepy at the same time.

The next day, me, Ras and Uncle went out at 6.30 in the morning to queue up for 2 hours to get free tickets to go up to the Skybridge of Petronas Towers. It's a bit like boxing day shopping...you find yourself full of energy, waking up way too early...lining up way too long...to find that thrill that you're craving for. And I must say it was all worth while! We got tickets for the 11.30am tour and was highly excited (I've never been up there! Shocker! =p). At the beginning of the tour was a short 3D presentation...and we had to wear these big grasshopper glasses which popped out the film. The whole entire presentation was almost like and advert...so I won't go into much detail there. Then came the tour! We got into this lift which went up 1 floor per second all the way to the 41st floor where the Skybridge is. It was fast. A big plus here is the increadibly gorgeous tour guide who made me almost swoon!! Got me all blushing and shuffling my feet when he politely made conversation with me, adoi...whoops! Too much details! ^_^

Anywho, the view was gorgeous!! We got plenty of pictures, but ofcourse I was such a lazy bum...all the pics are in Ras' camera and the one below is the only worthy ones that I shall show from my own snaps. Oohh..did you know, the bridge was designed to actually sway 10 inches horizontally in bad weather? Quite scary but logical at the same time. The end of the tour came all too soon (10 minutes max on the bridge, free tickets what can I say). Then we travelled all the way down and entered this lobby with interactive stuff..and there was this one corner where you can compare your height to the towers' height. It approximately takes 312 of me to make up the towers! I'm a shorty hehe.

After that, we ofcourse, went shopping! I took them to Bukit Bintang where I love to shop. Mainly because the price is almost always right and there's plenty of stuff to chose from. Ras and family went absolutely bonkers with shopping. Shanika keep telling me not to convert from pound sterling to Malaysian ringgits, but I can't help it! It just makes everything so affordable and I was in danger of burning a hole in my pockets. I found Elianto, a cosmetic brand, (thanks Diba! You got me hooked!) and went nuts! I wish I bought some more stuff, but that's just temptations. I don't use them that often and they'll probably end up in some deep drawers, lost forever to me. So I stuck to the basic stuff and came out alive =D

After shopping, I had to go. My dad picked me up and I said my goodbyes to them. So right now, Ras is in Penang. I passed my baton over to Asnida and I know she'll do a much better job of showing Ras and family around than me! All in all I think we pretty much had a great time. The only thing that bothered me are taxi drivers in KL. Some of them are so dishonest! Charging customers at inflated prices and telling them off for not knowing road names definately tarnished the Malaysian experience and I must say I'm shamed to bits =(

Rasadhi is a dear dear friend, I hope she'll come over again to Malaysia and I hope I can someday travel to Sri Lanka. But we promised each other to meet up in a week in Bristol! That's right, I'm heading back for my final year in Bristol. Shall miss Malaysia loads, but I'm missing Bristol too =) Right, heading off to watch some telly, this might be my last entry here in Malaysia for the summer. I hope the length will make up for the gap in time that I'll leave behind for the next entry which is until God knows when >_<

Catch ya'll soon shining happy people!
