My Take on the Asymmetrical Hem

Right….err...hmm...where do I begin…lets start with the skirt and its wonky hem! ^_^ It’s not actually wonky, its an asymmetrical hem. Basically starting with a circular skirt pattern but not chopping off the circular part, you can get a psychedelic hem. It took me ages to sew up the hem…it was like never ending!! I watched a whole Star Wars movie doing it!

Anywho, I think the folds hang pretty nicely on this one, but maybe normal human beings, like you and I, require some readjustments to accept the hem. It didn’t exactly turned out as expected, but I thought I’d share it with ya’ll so that we all can experience the volleys of laughter that erupted from my mum and I when I first put the dress on =P But strangely enough…despite all its witchy and halloweeny and Harry Potter-ish looks…I personally love it!

Nevertheless, I think I may have to chop off the asymmetrical hem to make it more socially acceptable and more practical for me to wear. Since it is a Little Black Dress, it is supposed to be practical and should be my last resort when I’ve given up all hope in my wardrobe. Then again you know…I am determined to wear it with the asymmetrical hem at least once in public and then I can get rid of the hem. But I shall miss the hem! sob!

Comments:
i think it looks fine on u. but i think it'll look funkier and nicer if u have some motives or patterns. i have one like this, it's in pink!! but the upper part tuh dia lain sket. i don't know how to explain la tapi. huhu. ^_^

oh, i might be home at Ipoh this thursday. How about a meet up? But sgt letih je kot sbb puasa. huhu.

hihhihihi!
I'm giggling but I kinda like the way that dress looks! mcm cool! Might look a little too long for you kot (if you intend to wear it with pants underneath as the pic suggested?)

But serious, cool. Ranggi gitu. ekkeke! you're getting better with those threads and needles eh?

hehe! yeah jis, it does kinda look super plain...but that what i was going for! just so that i can mix and match it with accessories/pants/skirts when the time comes to actually wearing it. but if ever make another one...i shall think about embellishing it more.

yup ida, it is kinda long. the longest part of the skirt goes way past my knees. but i think its cool if i wear skinny jeans with it. nothing bell bottom-ish ofcourse...i'm too short!! hehe....but i like being me just the way i am!

and i like you just the way you are, cik aisyah! :)

awwww...thanx girl!! ^_^

auwww nice la the top/dress. if i were u, wear it with long leggings. super cute. and ouh, probably find a colourful sash or belt to wrap around ur waist. chanteks! congrats aisyah!

haah deebs, big chunky belts was what i was going for. have a couple of those but never get around to use them..hmm....must rethink my wardrobe =P

be funkier the next time i see u yeah. perhaps wearing one of the pieces u made! any chances of selling them?? hehe
