Managing Life
As in....getting organised in any way and shape that I could possibly can. But to be honest I'm not exactly the little miss "I-can-get-everthing-done-no-matter-what-natural-disaster-might-occur" type of person. Not by a long shot. I tend to forget to do important things easily. But I seriously enjoy organising! Haha that sounds weird....But yeah, I even surf the internet hours at a time trying to polish my organising "skills". So here are a few things I do to keep my insatiable appetiate to keep things in order, at bay:I keep a diary!
I've been keeping diaries since..........before puberty. Honestly! I write everything and anything I can in it, ranging from romance, to doodles, to coursework stuff. I should think no one else can navigate thru the jumble of writings I have in them...but it is really an organised chaos and keeps me up-to-date with my self. I personally would recommend keeping a little notebook around to jot down all the little things that you couldn't possibly remember to do. Its a must for organising purposes.
Personal Organiser
You could argue that Personal Organisers = diaries, its really up to you how you define it. But I've got an electronic personal organiser on my PC and it does all sort of cool things like....
Alarms
"Get that library book back today! It'll save you pennies!" or...."Tomorrow is Asnida's birthday, you better remember that" etc etc
Daily Schedule
Its amazing how a little colour coding to tell you what lectures you have today or that coffee session at Starbucks that you've got with your girlfriends, could do to save you precious minutes of your life and avoid that grief that you'll probably have for being a bad friend.
Diary...with pictures and videos!
I think this is cool. You could do a little diary all for yourself and curse and rant to your heart's content with pictures and sounds and vids and everything and feel a lot better after it. This isn't essential...just an extra add-on that I appreciate.
Print-outs
This is handy when your supervisor needs to know when you're free to discuss stuff with you and you can just hit print (or generate html or something) for that week, and give in a hardcopy or electronic version to your supervisor and everyone will be happy bunnies. Its kinda embarrasing when you forget to take out personal scheduling...like "Jogging at 7am" hehe! ^_^ But it'll pump in a little bit of humour in people's lives so its all good.
Keeping my PC desktop clear at all times
Well this is a bit of a visual cheat...so on your computer that you stare at 24/7, find the thing that just makes every icon on the desktop disappear. It'll fake your brain into thinking that you're an organising genious and it'll make you happy just that tiny bit more =p
What can you do in 5 minutes?
I read this somewhere on the internet. We humans tend to forgo the "unimportant" things in life until the very last like for example, making a shopping list, tidying up your bed every morning, sending off that birthday card IN TIME, and the list goes on. Its fine if your life consists of you and yourself. But when other people comes into the equation, it'll all come crashing down. For instance, your friends are coming over but there's absolutely nothing in the cupboard, your place is in a horrendous state and you forgot to give your friend a birthday card...wouldn't you squirm in horror? I would anyway....so the website suggests that, when you suddenly find yourself with 5 minutes (or whatever numerical time values you have) of time, just try think of something that you can do in that 5 minutes. I've tried it...and its sort of fun! Like just now...I had 3 minutes to spare, and I thought oh yeah! I have to collect some money off my flat mates =D Not the most inspiring thing...but I raced against the clock, sorted it out and pasted sticky notes on my friend's door. Pink sticky notes...and thats me done with that. Try it, might work for you.
Listing down things
I think this is a sort of a habit for me. I don't really do everything on the list but its good to know that atleast I get around to do some of them. Its just sort of a stress release theraphy for me.
And there you go! My daily organising habits. But ofcourse, I don't quite stick to them as ruthlessly as I should do. I am after all a human being, forgetfull at times. Hope this will help people!
PS: I'm keeping my formatting "unjustified" for now. I read somewhere on the net that its savvy to left align your text. So yeah, I'm going with the flow aswell =)
